They are great companions. That is why I don't agree with mercy killings. The best thing to do for stray cats and dogs is put them in cat and dog pounds and have them adopted. Dogs when domesticated are loyal pets and can guard the house and protect the family. Time and again we see and read about hero dogs. Some dogs help the police and some dogs helps the shepherd in disciplining the herd of sheep. Cats are cats cause they sleep and make cute faces. Of course cats also chases the mouse.
