The Man from Gadarenes

Mark Chapter 5 tells of the country of Gadarenes where there is a wild man with an unclean spirit. Jesus drives the unclean spirit out of the man.

Mark 5
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. 19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. 20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

Jesus is confident that the man is strong and knowledgeable enough to teach and has leadership qualities so he left him so that he can influence his friends. A Christian must search for those who are lost.

Now about the swine, this does not mean that the swine have bad spirits. Actually you can have them as pets. I have raised a swine before, I rub its belly and it slowly slides down to one side and sleeps. The swine likes it. In nature, a swine would not go near the cliff because the swine knows it is a cliff. You corner a swine into a cliff and the swine will charge right at you to survive. The story is symbolic of bad thoughts and works being thrown to the sea. Jesus left Gadarenes knowing that they have a leader who can see. In contrary to this:

Matthew 15
13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. 14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Luke 6
39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? 40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

So this is canon from Jesus. Now we search for the writings and works of a man whose roots are from Gadarene and Decapolis.

Zi Xia said "In the same way that craftsmen labour in their workshops to complete their work, gentlemen labour in their studies to achieve The Way". Zi Xia is a disciple of Confucius.

Confucius and his disciple are after the spirit. Same spirit as Jesus and his disciples. Craftsmen makes graven images as works of art. In the same manner we persevere in doing good works with faith in the teachings we learned. Like a sound and viable theory translated into actual practice. Like a building being constructed that is designed using prevailing building codes and has fine aesthetics.

We could be heroes of own family, communities, clubs, organizations, corporations, institutions, provinces, nations, of the world and churches. The  mission and vision is because of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Then these things shall added unto you - education, career, riches, and other earthly possessions.
